A fellow sister-at-heart who still walks the difficult road
of rearing a medically-complex child sent me this beautiful jar with glass beads and Psalm 56:8.
It sits on our mantel as a reminder that these tears are temporary.
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?
For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the LORD has spoken.
1 Corinthians 15:54-55
When the perishable puts on the imperishable,
and the mortal puts on immortality,
then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,
and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning,
nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.”
