I watched this video today and had to share it as a follow-up to yesterday’s post on how to disagree well and the conversations in the comments there. It should go without saying that I disagree that religion is a product of evolution, but the data about the personality traits and values of liberals and conservatives was fascinating.Video via www.ted.com
The challenge that I continually confront is that we are drawn to our own tribes, to people who are like ourselves. But we cannot work together to find mutually acceptable solutions unless we force ourselves outside those tribes, endure the discomfort and conflict, and learn to work together with people who value different things most. I think he demonstrated irrefutably how much we need each other, but sometimes we hate each other.
