NaNoWriMo

Say what?

Let me explain. NaNoWriMo is shorthand for National Novel Writing Month. In November, thousands of people will attempt to write a 50,000 word novel (or beginning of one) in 30 days. From scratch. No editing allowed (phew!).

I haven’t written fiction since I was a child, so I have no idea what I’m doing. But they keep telling me to just start with a character, send them out into the world, and see what happens to them. So I’m going to attempt it. It’s time to stretch and grow and try something new!

I’ll be spending every spare waking moment writing. This means a lot of things, including that I’ll be writing fewer real blog posts this month… and the ones I write will be shorter. Yes, I do intend to finish the blog series I started. Eventually — it’s still in process anyway.

Instead, you’ll get to read my NaNoWriMo updates. Feel free to skip those if you like. I’ll try to post cute photos of the kids to break up the monotony.

Meanwhile, I found a fantastic new singer, Eva Cassidy. Her song “Autumn Leaves” made me  think of Elli. I’ve added some of her music and a few other new songs to my playlist. If you scroll down, you’ll find the player on the right side. Click the play button to listen.
